Harlem Gospel Choir is America’s most famous gospel choir and among the most famous in the world that, for nearly 40 years, has been thrilling audiences with its powerful vocal style and contagious energy, striving to cross cultural barriers, uniting nations and people and sharing-through its music-the message of love, peace and harmony with thousands of people from different nations and cultures. This extraordinary vocal ensemble will be featured in concert next Dec. 18 at the Jesolo Tourist Palace (beginning at 9 p.m.), where they will perform the spectacular new concert dedicated to the extraordinary Aretha Franklin, as well as the greatest hits of the gospel tradition. Founded in 1986 by Allen Bailey, the choir is made up of the finest voices and musicians from the Gospel Churches of Harlem and New York. The Harlem Gospel Choir has always strived, through its music, to create a better understanding of African-American culture and Gospel music, thus seeking to share its values and messages with thousands of people around the world. For nearly four decades these wonderful artists have toured the world thrilling audiences with the inspiring power of black gospel music. The Harlem Gospel Choir has performed alongside superstars such as U2’s Bono, Diana Ross, The Gorillaz, Andre Rieu and most recently Sam Smith, Damon Albarn and Pharrell Williams. The choir has also performed for U.S. Presidents Obama and Carteer, for Nelson Mandela, and for two popes, Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI. In their long record production they have also recorded with the likes of Sir Keith Richards, The Chieftains and Trace Adkins. After the acclaimed “Harlem Gospel Choir sings Nina Simone” tour in 2022, they toured in 2023 with the “Celebrating 60 years of Whitney Houston” project, a tribute to the 60th anniversary of the famous singer’s birth. By contrast, 2024 sees them headlining around the world with a new special project dedicated to the extraordinary Aretha Franklin.
