50 Cent, pseudonym of Curtis James Jackson III (New York, 6 July 1975), is an American rapper, actor, entrepreneur and record producer who has sold over 30 million records in his career. He rose to fame after the release of his albums ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin’’ (2003) and “The Massacre” (2005), through Eminem and Dr. Dre’s record labels Shady Records and Aftermath, subsidiaries of Jimmy Iovine’s Interscope Records. His international success is primarily due to his personal affairs and difficult past, but also to his typically ‘gangsta’ image. The rapper’s name is often associated with that of his group, the G-Unit, consisting of Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, 50 Cent and previously also Young Buck and The Game. In 2014, during the Summer Jam festival, G-Unit reunited again with all members except The Game. He is also an active producer of hip hop albums, heading the G-Unit Records label, one of the most important in the world, which is also active in film and clothing production. 50 Cent has initiated many rivalries with other rappers such as Ja Rule, The Game, Fat Joe and Jadakiss. In 2007, he was ranked by the US magazine Forbes as the second richest rapper on the planet, preceded only by Jay-Z. In 2008, he managed to surpass him, thus winning the title of richest rapper in the world.
